WHO Regional Office for Europe
Making art can enable people to take greater responsibility for their own health and well-being, by helping maintain levels of independence and curiosity and improve the quality of life by bringing greater joy.
All-Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health and Wellbeing.
Our aims
Reduce barriers to taking part in creative activity (cost, confidence, access, isolation)
Support mental health through creative routine and community
Make sessions accessible and inclusive, with adjustments where needed
Provide safe, welcoming spaces where people can focus, make, and connect
Work with partners (NHS services, social prescribing, schools, charities, community groups) to reach people who may not access support otherwise
What we hope to achieve
Over time, we aim to show clear outcomes for participants and partners.
More people taking part in regular creative activity who previously couldn’t access it
Improved wellbeing and reduced isolation for participants (measured through simple pre/post check-ins and feedback)
Strong referral pathways with social prescribing and community organisations
Consistent programme delivery across Leigh-on-Sea and Southend, using venues during off-peak hours
Funded places (through grants, sponsorships, and donations) so cost is not the reason someone misses out
