inner’s workshop with Nicola (aka Mrs Mosaic) where you will make a gorg
eous mosaic star whilst getting in the festive mood. Learn how to first de
sign and then make your own unique star using an assortment of colourful\,
decorative glass & mosaic tiles. Use your beautiful\, handcrafted finishe
d piece to brighten your home or decorate your garden. There will be a min
i demonstration of how to grout your piece. All materials provided\, inclu
ding a goody bag with instructions on how to grout your star and make it w
eatherproof. This class also includes a slice of homemade cake and hot dri
nk of choice. About your tutor Nicola Upton Nicola Upton (aka Mrs Mosaic)
has a degree in 3D Design from the University of Wolverhampton including a
period at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Following a tea
ching qualification at Southend Adult Community College\, Nicola spent a n
umber of years with the art department reaching into the community. At the
same time she was involved with a mosaic group who collaborated on divers
e local community projects aimed to encourage and inspire disadvantaged\,
hard to reach or minority stakeholders. This included working on the famou
s Moon Corner mosaic in Leigh (the next corner from The Grand)\, with the
Storehouse Project and Mind the mental health charity. Her work has been e
xhibited widely including at the Beecroft Gallery\, Two Tree Gallery\, the
Rayleigh Art Trail and numerous local venues.
